海洋科学学术讲座预告第357期：变化世界下海洋生物资源的综合性研究

报告内容简介：

Research in my lab is to understand the mechanisms and processes underlying the dynamics and interactions of zooplankton and fish across estuaries and coastal waters in the context of natural and anthropogenic-driven environmental variability. Our research is quantitatively based and process-oriented through integrating lab, sea-going and modeling approaches on focal organisms including zooplankton, oysters, jellyfish and commercially important fish (e.g., red snapper, bluefin tuna etc.), which has implications for management and conservation of marine ecosystems at a range of temporal and spatial scales. In this talk I will introduce our recent work including predictive understanding of dynamics of fish stocks in terms of assessments and management of fisheries resources; detecting impacts of hurricanes on estuarine pelagic communities using ecological indicators, modeling larval oysters in Texas estuaries and jellyfish blooms in the Gulf of Mexico, and zooplankton communities under extreme environmental conditions in the Arabian Gulf. Through this opportunity, I seek collaboration with SYSU colleagues on research activities in the future.
